H’art is offering a summer day camp just for kids and teens with special needs.
Best on Stage is designed for youth aged 7-15. Day campers will learn to let their best self shine while they explore theatre, dance and music activities in the The Box, an award-winning, fully-accessible downtown performing arts space at H’art Centre. Outside the Box, day campers will explore Kingston’s performing arts events, concerts and festivals together!
Executive Director Katherine Porter believes this pilot project will open new horizons for youth with special need in Kingston.
“Kids and teens deserve a physically accessible summer arts experience. From our experience with our adult day programs, we know the arts move people from being passive to active. The arts change the way people see themselves. They become creators, expressive and their own best advocates.”
This day camp experience will be supervised by qualified leaders who are Developmental Service Worker graduates with CPR certification and CPIC background checks. Additional certifications include NVCI and Sign Language.
There are eight weekly sessions from July 2-August 23. You can register for single or multiple weekly sessions. Weekly sessions are $225/week. Register by June 14th.
