The Brook Catherine Doseger Endowment Fund is a permanent fund initiated by Catherine and Greg Bell, and supported by several donors, in memory of Brook Catherine Doseger (1992 – 2016)
Brook Doseger’s passion for life and adventure knew no bounds and this spirit overflowed into everything that she did. The endowment fund will honour Brook through an award given by H’art Centre to a post-secondary placement student who has best exhibited the philosophy, focus and joy of the H’art Centre.
Brook was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario, and when she completed her education at Nipissing University, she pursued her life-long dream of being an elementary school teacher. Shortly after taking a Kindergarten position in Kuwait, a tragic accident ended her life, but not her influence and hope that everyone can be included. Brook was a person of faith, living her beliefs, always showing kindness and generosity to everyone, including volunteering and celebrating with people with developmental and physical disabilities, talking openly about mental health issues, and supporting initiatives to increase childhood literacy. This inaugural award marks what will be an annual event, acknowledging the importance of the student placement program at H’art Centre and the training of future facilitators of accessible arts for people with disabilities.
The 2018 recipient will be announced in December at the finale of The Wishing Tree.
