Stay Curious, Keep Learning

Jun 14, 2024 | MixAbilities, Note from Director

Hey everyone!

Lately, we’ve been reflecting on the importance of staying curious and continuously learning about inclusivity. Even after 25 years, it is crucial for us to actively seek out new perspectives, educate ourselves on cultures, and challenge our own biases and assumptions in order to create truly inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.

We are thrilled to share that we have recently completed a series of workshops on the principles behind Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, thanks to the support of the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund. As the long-term recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we welcome the Government of Canada’s push for a more inclusive model of economic growth that creates opportunities for everyone in Canada.

We’d also like to thank consultants Sunita Gupta and Dr. Richard Noman for their guidance and expertise in helping us with this process.

As inclusive arts leaders, it is our responsibility to lead by example and constantly strive to educate ourselves and those around us on the importance of diversity and inclusion. We encourage each and every one of you to embrace curiosity and a growth mindset. Let us continue to learn from each other, support one another, and work towards creating a more inclusive community for all.

In this Stay Curious, Keep Learning series, we want to tell you a bit about our learning journey and also let you know about the awesome inclusive arts resources available through our MixAbilities Inclusive Arts Training Program for everyone in the community

Together, let us continue to learn, grow, and create a world where everyone feels a sense of belonging.

Warm regards, Katherine
